Weightpull Questions

Anyone know any websites with specs on a track or possibly a blueprint of a track?? Maybe Andy can help me out since I know he has one built right?? Along with the specs of a cart that would match the track. Also where I could find some window weights?? All I could find them was up to 25 lbs or any similar drag weights in larger increments would work. Also would it be meaningful to pick up a carpet mill or would it be better just to stick to the weights? Time to start on WP soon!!! Thanks

Hi. My family and I are looking for a new dog, but don't know much about bloodlines. Our last dog we got from a hog hunter and It was the best dog I could've asked for. We're looking for a game line seeing as we're interested in getting into weight pull, but also want something family friendly and protective. I've heard good things about boudreaux, tnt and ofrn. Any guidance or advice from someone who is more familiar with these lines would be appreciated.

Thank you for your time.

Hey all, I'm a new guy here. I have a AmStaff thats about 19 months old now. So far as I can tell he doesn't have a stitch of guard dog in him. He is a fixed male. Do these dogs grow up to be guard dogs? My wife and I are going to get a second dog in the next year. Are there breeds of pits that are good guard dogs? I have beed told that most pits are a deterent on looks alone, and they aren't very protective of property. I did have a friend years ago who's pit bit someones had after they cut ...

My wife and I got our first dog about 14 months ago now. He is an Amstaff male fixed. Generally he is a great dog, but there are a few things I have not been able to stop him from doing. I live in Vermont, so there are many occasions for me to let him run off leash, and swim. The first problem is every time another dog comes any were around, he takes off for that dog. He doen't hurt the, he just wants to play, but he absolutely does not listen when other dogs are around. The other thing is, when ...

I know that the APBT standard says that there should be no preference to cropped or uncropped ears, but I don't see that that is really the case. Do uncropped dogs ever win, or do well for that matter? I have no problem with cropping, but Daphne has an ear infection that took a month and a half to get rid of (she kept jumping in this icky pond, til I figured out to keep her away from water) and I kind of missed the window. I have actually gotten in touch with a vet in Georgia (she did a friend's ...

I let him in and out all day. He runs around and plays all day outside, but hes mostly a indoor doggie. He doesn't have much room to run, was just wondering if there was anything else I could do. Now she's lost all mentality and ability to listen to a !!!!! command.

The biggest problem is she's jumpin on the kids, I don't tolerate that crap at all. She weighs 75lbs and she knocks them over easily. I don't ...

Ok keep in mind i'm no pro actually new to showing myself and still learning.

The first things you wanna do is go check out an actual show first. Learn the structure inside and out to make sure you know what your going up against when you get to the show. I always size up the competition (doesn't mean I'm always right but I kind of know what to expect sometimes). You wanna make sure you got the proper show equipment.

How do people feel about muzzles?

My aunt puts muzzles on her dogs every once in a while when they chew stuff up as a punishment (Now the ways she does it I'm not for). We used to muzzle our old dog Abbie when she wouldn't stop barking at the people (who were there for 4 hours already). But we'd quickly take it off if she needed water or food.

What do you guys think? I'm not totally for the muzzles anymore because of what i've learned. I would like some opinions on what to use instead.
