On Christams day Chalice and Matayha got into a small tiff. Mikado came charging up and got in on it. Two more times that day he started a fight with Matayha. I beat Mikado up and leashed him for a couple of days everything seemed fine. Well last night I though he was looking at Matayha funny so I got after him and we went to sleep. Today I went to call Matayha out of a kennel so my sisters dog could go in and Mikado started fighting with Matayha again. I have Mikado in a kennel right now. I don't want to kennel Matayha she did nothing wrong. I don't want to make Mikado even more agressive by Kenneling him all the time. We take in dogs and cats Mikado has quite a few dogs he doesn't like and we have to keep seperated. I have an appointment on Sat for him to have some tests done as he hasn't been feeling well. What I'm wondering is do I have to put him down. Matayha is so sweet she doesn't fight with anyone she is great with all people and she is good with all the livestock. I guess I just needed to talk to someone. I feel so lost. I love Mikado with all my heart but I can't live with the aggression.

I wouldn't put him down. It's to be expected. Is there any way to rehome him in a single dog household.

I know what you mean about how hard it is to live with aggression. I have two bitches in the same house!!

Hey, Sharon. Sorry to hear about all that stress. I know exactly how you feel. But don't put him down just because of agression. From all the things you have said about him he is a great dog. I know DA is a major pain, we have to deal with it everyday. If it has come to that point with him just crate and rotate. It's a crappy life for a dog but at least it's something. It's just part of the pit bull. Sometimes they pick a dog out and decide to eliminate it. At least you know you can stop it if an accident happens. We only have the two girls but one always has to be separated from the rest of the family and it sucks but I know that they are both just aggressive dogs and it's not their fault. They were both bred that way. I'm sure it's going to be ok. You just need to get a good perspective on the situation and decide how best to avoid any more incidents. He's your boy, so don't be mad at him for his instincts. Get him to the vet and at least rule out any illness. It will help if you can ease your mind about that. Just remember, he's a bulldog and bulldogs fight. It's just their nature. Be sure to let me know how things are going. I hate to think of you being stressed out about things.

I agree with the guys above. Aggression comes with this breed. It is to be expected that is what has been bred into them for generations. Crate and rotate is the best solution that i can come up with as well, if you do not wish to seperate yourself from your loved one. I had 2 females in the past that just couldnt stand each other after the first incident they got into. They get along well with others but when it came to each other it was a no win situation. So they were placed on seperate sides of the yard.

I would say make your self a pack pole . and walk them togather . dogs that walk togather can live togather . its the same thing as taking to gang members ( two that dont get along ) and putting them in a room and the only way they can get out is to work togather . I had to do this with ray and still do it from time to time .

what you will need to make a pack pole

some good rope or a leash with a latch on each end

4 1/2 to 5 foot of thick wall PVC pipe

two calors


Okk what you do is run the leash through the PVC ( it is best if the leash ony sticks out each end about 5 ins) and then put the second latch on . put you a lead in the middle of the PVC pipe ( tie on some rope and duck tape it down so it cant slide ,, You can leave this off if you have a finced in yard .) hook the dog that has the less DA on frist on one end and the other dog to the other end and turn them lose are lead them around . when they are like this you dont have to worrie about them fighting and they will become friends cause they have to work togather all the time to do any thing .

I would only let them be on this for about an hour a day for the first few days . then you can let them be for longer time later .

Note they may try to fight at first but you just correct and keep on going . dont favor one dog over the other . you are the pack leader and as I see it he thinks he is so you have to show them that you are the boss and they are equal . hope this helps and if you are n e one else has any questions about this just ask .

Thanks guys I know putting him down is not the answer. I just needed to talk to someone that understands this breed. I LOVE Mikado and I LOVE Matayah. When Mikado first came here they would fight over food. We had slept in the same room at night for 5yrs. I can imagine he would dislike her forever. I'm home all day this weekend and I will work it with them then. I will let you know how it goes. He does see the vet on Sat too. He hasa terrible smell like an old outhouse. He bloats and shakes and is not well I know but I don't know if the vet will figure it out.

Thats a tough call. I dont think putting the dog down is the answer but obviously you need some kind of solution. When you say the dog is kenneled do you mean a crate or a a 10x10 kennel? I dont think putting the dog in the kennel will make him any more aggressive. The thing to do is keep your eye on it and head the problem off. Stop it before it stops and make it evident you will not tolerate it. The problem is we are asking these dogs not to do what we raised them to do!

I meant a crate. He has been better the last few days. I took them both with in the car yesterday and they had to wait for me. I put Mikado on a leash in the bedroom and told him that he had to behave. I don't let him eat with anyone because he is food aggressive.

I don't want to put him down but I already have three dogs here that he doesn't get along with. I have to keep them all seperate. I just could fathom having another dog to juggle around.

I will contintue to keep an eye on them and when I'm not home I will my son crate and rotate them.
