I usually start mixing the puppy food with adult food when they are about 9-10 months old and by 12 months they are ready for adult food.. thats how I do it anyway..lol

It depends on how the dog is developing and what not. If the dog is growing fast i'll switch at six months but if it seems to be maturing/growing slow i'll wait till closer to a year.

The thing is some dogs need the extra protein/fat in the food longer then others so you have to really evaluate your dogs when deciding if you want to switch then or later!

I agree with Brandi. One thing about well known lines is they carry specific traits that tend to me known. That line has become so well known because it is a line that produces LARGE dogs. None of us mean any offense so please don't take it that way.

Vet told me to keep Z on puppy food 'till about 9.5 - 10 months then switch.

Ooo question too while I'm here about dog food. I've resently switched Z's food cuz the beneful was giving him gas REALLY bad. And the purina hes on now, its better but he still has gas lots. I thought maybe keep this food for a bit see if it goes away (cuz switching can cause gas). What do you guys think ?

Purina also causes really bad gas (at least in my experience lol) the only thing i've fed that didn't cause the gas is nutro max. I wouldn't switch again unless it was really not doing good for the dog like bad coat (any skin issue) or the digestion of it becomes a health problem.
