Hardest Thing Ive Ever Done

Today I had to say goodbye to one of my best friends, Rocky. I have had her for almost 11 years now. In the last year she developed cancer in her nasal area and the docs said there was nothing they could do but that for now it wasnt painfull for her. Well in the last month there has been tremendous swelling to the point her eyes seem sunk in her head. She bleeds constantly out her nose and this past week lots of mucus would just run. So today I put her down and buried her on the back side of our property. I havent cried like that since I dont know when. I tried not to but no use. She went everywhere with me when I was single. I even snuck her in the university doorm for about 3 weeks before I got caught. She was truly mans best friend and Ill NEVER forget her. It still hurts but I couldnt see her that way. She had 10 good years and always was the best dog I could have ever owned. I dont think she deserved to live that way.

She wasnt full pit, her dad was a Rottie, her mom a solid white pit but she was 100% friend and thats all that mattered.

Ill always remember her like this.

I am so sorry for your loss Andy... But you have to remmber that you did the right thing ..making her continue to suffer for your selfish reasons ..(keeping her and not wanting her to go) would have been wrong..you did the right thing I know it hurts but she is in a better place and no longer has to endure the pain....

I'm sorry oldfort....you done the right thing, she was a very beautiful girl. I'm not good with words, but just know that I'm sorry.

I Stood Beside Your Bed Last Night
I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying, You found it hard to sleep.

I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear,
"It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."

I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea,
You were thinking of the many times, your hands reached down to me.

I was with you at the shops today, Your arms were getting sore.
I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more.

I was with you at my grave today, You tend it with such care.
I want to reassure you, that I'm not lying there.

I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key.
I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said "It's me."

You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair.
I tried so hard to let you know, that I was standing there.

It's possible for me, to be so near you everyday.
To say to you with certainty, "I never went away."

You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew ...
in the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.

The day is over... I smile and watch you yawning
and say "Goodnight, God bless, I'll see you in the morning."

And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,
I'll rush across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side.

I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out ... then come home to be with me.

Yeah we are doing better. Now we can talk about her and we remeber!

I'm so sorry for your loss. RIP Dear Rocky. She had a good life it is awful that she had to have cancer poor girl. You have wonderful memories to help you thru this hard time. I still hurt over Montag I saved his life had him for 16 yrs but it wasn't long enough.

Man that made me think of my GSD, that was blinding. Brought a genuine lump to my throat...

Awwwww Iknow how you feel, 16 years doesnt seem like enough time.... You want more!!! If i could i would want to die before my dogs, just cuz i know when Harley goes....... Well i really wouldnt wanna think of that,,,

That really sucks Andy. She was a very friendly dog. Greeted us in the driveway. RIP We lost Viper and Cuda this year. Its been a hard year.
