| How do people feel about muzzles?
My aunt puts muzzles on her dogs every once in a while when they chew stuff up as a punishment (Now the ways she does it I'm not for). We used to muzzle our old dog Abbie when she wouldn't stop barking at the people (who were there for 4 hours already). But we'd quickly take it off if she needed water or food.
What do you guys think? I'm not totally for the muzzles anymore because of what i've learned. I would like some opinions on what to use instead.

| I've used the full face muzzles when I had Tasha going into the vet. She does not like big dogs and I know I wasnt going to risk someone's dog getting bit b/c she has an attitude problem. When I lived in an apt. all APBT's had to be muzzled but Legend's was just a peice of velcro. Looked similiar to a Gentle leader except didnt have a loop on it for the leash under the chin.
I have no problem with them. Especially if someone is not sure if their dog is going to hurt another dog or a person. Using them as punishment I dont think BUT I have never been in a situation like that so I don't know. Maybe I need to put one on Gemmi to shut her trap for a couple of minutes! LOL ....J/K

| I don't use muzzles for anything except biters. We had a few Bull Mastiffs that hated the vet and needed to be muzzled. One inparticular never went for a walk with out a muzzle. If you came to close he would just lunge and bite what ever he could grab ahold of. That about it. | |

| Basket muzzles you mean. I like the basket muzzles better. You can get them in wire and like a hard plastic looking material.
The reason I like the basket ones better they can still drink water, vomit if they need to, and pant!

| I have had to use a muzzel on a few dogs that we had here as they wanted to kill my goats and chicken. So I would muzzel them when I let them run around the yard. Then when they were in their kennel they had it off. | |

| Well, I did use one on Rocky When I was at work but just recently started using it for punishment when I find something tore up other than his toys. I gave him a chance to behave while I was at work and he has done good so he has not been waring it lately.. If I catch him eating my house he will wear it for at least a half hour... | |
