| Look what LA and friends are up to..... They are trying to get a bill introduced in CALI MSN Mandatory Spay/Neuter!!!! That means ALL DOGS NO MORE BREEDING/NO MOTE LITTERS/ NO MORE PITBULLS This will HIT ALL OF US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS IS A CROSSPOST!!!!!!!!!!! We will be keeping an eye on this one.......
Take a look at the website set up for the State mandatory spay/neuter bill, The "California Healthy Pets Act"
http://www.cahealthypets.com/
More information will be put up there soon when the bill is introduced, but this gives an idea of their approach. See Diane McCormack's post below with information on CACDA. We know they are in support of the bill and may be actively working on developing it. CACDA President is Marcia Meyeda (Director, LA County Animal Services) so we expect it will be similar to the LA County law. The legislative committee includes some familar characters:

<<Legislative Committee: Glenn Howell Pat Claerbout Jon Cicirelli Henry Brzezinski David Diliberto Marcia Mayeda >>
Keep in mind that when bills are introduced in California it usually takes some time before they are assigned to a committee and a hearing is set. We are going to have to develop strategy and soundly defeat this one.............

CALIFORNIA 2007 bills still have three more weeks until the February 23 deadline for new bills, and nothing new involving owned animals was introduced last week. However, California Animal Control Directors Association board member, Jon Cicirelli, Deputy Director of San Jose Animal Care and Services attended meetings last week where he told attendees to expect a state mandatory spay/neuter bill with financing by Gary K. Michelson, M.D. and this is the reason for stalling local measures in CACDA board members' locations.
I just pulled up the web page and this is what it says about the CACDA --- A nonprofit organization, formed in 1976, that represents animal care and control professionals and agencies in California. CACDA is supported by its membership, which is composed of animal care and control professionals, as well as its respective agencies throughout the state.
Mission: California Animal Control Directors' Association is dedicated to providing leadership, training, and development, support and advocacy to animal care and control agencies.
Some of CACDA's activities include:
* Providing expert guidance to more than 500 incorporated cities and 58 counties in California which depend upon animal care and control services to ensure public safety and humane animal care in their communities. * Advising lawmakers regarding proposed changes to animal control laws and practices, especially as they relate to public safety, financial impact, animal welfare and community service. * Serving as a liaison with similar professionals throughout the country to recognize and address trends and issues in the animal care and control field. * Promoting best practices. * Sponsoring training and education to industry professionals and the general public regarding animal welfare and animal control. * Providing informational and assistance network services for professionals in the field.
This web site lists their members and even has an update button one can hit to get into the legislative web sites.

| I'm waiting on more info from the board i got it from, but those who have registered dogs MUST use their dog for more than just breeding. They must be active in show, wp, agility .... etc. They can't just be breeding dogs.

| Another point to this is that L A is overwhelmed with letters and applications for exemptions. More TAX Money. If you want to comply then you will have to bring your " bullies" out to UKC or AKC events.
Oh, did they forget to mention that even for "show dogs" you have to apply for a litter permit! And they limit the number of litters you can have?
Oh and one more thing...... They will want to know the names and numbers of the people you sold your dogs to. This isn't going to punish "BYB" they are going to keep on doing what they do.... This will punish the responsible dog owner....... | |
