| I know that the APBT standard says that there should be no preference to cropped or uncropped ears, but I don't see that that is really the case. Do uncropped dogs ever win, or do well for that matter? I have no problem with cropping, but Daphne has an ear infection that took a month and a half to get rid of (she kept jumping in this icky pond, til I figured out to keep her away from water) and I kind of missed the window. I have actually gotten in touch with a vet in Georgia (she did a friend's dog's ear correction and its perfect now) that says she can do it. The only reson I am considering it now (she 5 1/2 months) is because she had perfect rose ears until the ear infection and now the one that was infected sits funny | |

| Uncropped dog have won plenty of shows. A lot of judges now are preferring uncropped ears. I had Justice's ears cropped at 5.5 months and they look great. It all depends on the vet that crops them. | |

| Panteras Mom won Best in Breed and Best female and her ears were not done..... She was a pretty girl!! I like the look of both, But think that the Pit should have a nice looking head to have them cropped.... Harley would look Awesome with Cropped ears, Pantera, i dont think would look that great.... | |

| Thanks, that is good to know! For now I am trying a corrective taping as was suggested by someone local. Both of Daph's ears were fine until the ear infection and since then the one that had the infection (it was both a bacterial and yeast infection) now hangs kind of flat and different from the other one. I like the look of cropped ears, but after the hard time I had with two of my prior dogs I was on the fence with doing her ears. I had to wait for the infection to clear which took a few weeks and my vet didn't like to do ear crops past 16 weeks. | |

Take a look at our boy. His ears are uncropped and he is like 35 points from obtaining his show championship. cropped or uncropped doesn't matter in the show ring. But I do agree with Pantera when she says the head makes a difference. | |

| The crop is not what determines if your dog will win or not it's the dogs over all structure. If you have an uncropped dog that is just dynamite it will go in and take it all! Now if you have an uncropped dog that is just okay and a dog that is cropped (head displays much nicer then the uncropped dog) then the crop will win. It all depends on your dogs over all structure and how the head is viewed by the judge. I have been getting all mine cropped lately but it is simply because I've come to like the crop better myself but if I have a dog with a good natural ear set then i'll leave the ears natural. | |
